The Mission
&
The Story

To combat food insecurity by empowering communities through year-round food production using Walipinis, with a long-term goal of providing global aid, starting with one community at a time.

Before Walipini Impact, I grew food in my backyard and gave it away with a sign reading "Take what you can use".

Having experienced severe hunger throughout my childhood, I found my life mission: To provide fresh and nutritious food for all people, especially those unable to access fresh foods themselves. The walipini was the next step toward feeding my community year-round.

        - Jessie Miller

What is a Walipini?

An underground greenhouse that keeps an ambient temperature at 55°F, cooling in the summer, and warming in the winter, allowing for year-round growth and provides access to a wide range of plant hardiness zone right in your backyard.

Size

Our Walipini is 8'x10' and 4-feet deep. But a Walipini can be any custom size. Check out the one built by the Oglala Sioux Tribe in South Dakota!

Supply

The Walipini lets us grow plants all year round, and we can produce crops faster and more water efficient with hydroponics.

Success

We donate fresh food to our local community every week and have no plans to stop.
